The Sniper | Lesson 3 | Song Connection
The song I chose to make my connection to was Metallica's 'One'. It is about the troubles and hardship of a soldier left wounded after being injured in a war. As they are both about people in wars, the main connection I was able to make between the two was that what was described in 'One', must have been the type of mental hardship that the main character in 'The Sniper' must have gone through after he killed his own brother.
The Sniper | Lesson 1 | Reading and Reflecting
1. The lack of knowledge skews our perspective because it's hard to give an opinion unless you know a lot about the characters.
2. Irony affects the reader at the end of the story because the unsuspecting happens.
3. The street separates the two different snipers because it's like having the two different armies fighting each other from different perspectives. The street could represent the split between the two different sides.
4. There is no resolution because the war is still going on and the character kills his own brother.
5. The sniper wants to see his victim because he thought for a second that he knew him and that he was an important person and was valuable to kill. He was also curious because he was very talented.
6. True because there's so much loss that nobody ever wins. Also, in the text, almost everybody gets shot and killed so it's never over.

The Sniper | Lesson 2 | Making Connections
Patt Tillman, an ex-NFL player turned US Army Ranger, was killed by friendly fire. On the other hand, the fictional short story of 'The Sniper' is a story about a IRA killing his own brother, who it was at the time unknown to him, though. One distict connnection I made between these two stories is that neither in the real life story of Patt Tillman nor in the fictional work of literature 'The Sniper' did the killers of the desceased know who they were shooting at. Another connection that I was able to make was the fact that they were both shooting at their brothers, though one of them at their blood brother, while the other their brother(s) in arms. Those two were the two main connections that I was able to make during the reading of the story of Patt Tillman and 'The Sniper'.
All Summer in a Day
In the short story of 'All Summer in a Day', where a young girl is bullied and tormented because other kids are jealous, many things happen that make it possible to relate to the real life story of Phoebe Prince. In the latter of the two, Phoebe Prince, a young girl who moved to the US from Ireland, got mercilessly bullied by the school 'Mean Girls'. Both were bullied, but in the fictional story of 'All Summer in a Day', the kids felt bad about doing it after trapping the girl in a closet, where in the case of Phoebe Prince they tormented the girl even after she committed suicide. So, all in all, I think that the two stories connected because they were both about bullying, no matter how extreme each of them might have been respectively.
Text to Text Connection:
I think that the song "Don't Laugh at Me' ByMark Willis connects to the story of 'All Summer in a Day' because they are both about bullying, but more specifically, the porblems revolving around the victim. Don't Laugh at Me desicbes the metnal agony that the victims of bullying must go through, while All Summer in a Day desicbes how the bullying happens. The song shows the pain the the bullyed go through, as eventhe title is 'DOn't laugh at me'. The story of All Summer in a Day is about the actual bullying, though, whichconnects to the song. Those are the conenction I made between the two.

I think that article connects to the sotyr of 'All Summer in a Day for a few reasons. For one, they are both centered around bullying, which is pretty self-explanatory. But the biggest connection I was able to make between the two was different. It was about the effects of bullying. In the sotyr of All Summer in a Day, the main character is bullied for being from Earth, and it has, along with home-scikness, taken a toll on her, making her kind of distant from the others in her grade. In the video in the link, it talks also about the effects of bullying over a longer-term. Those are the connection I was able to make between the two.

Discrimintation. It is a worldwide problem. It has been so, in fact, for as long as anyone can remember. But what, really, is the reason that we, as humans, discriminate against eachother? Personally, I have two ideas. The first of those is that it lets those whoare, in reality, weak on the inside, feel bigger and stronger. For instance, if somebody is really insecure, making fun of others' differences might make thyem feel better. My second thought is that many people like to point things out and belittle people if they are differnent, even in a little way. By that I mean people like to point out other peoples' differences and use those in their advantage and try to belittle others to, in turn, make themselves feel bigger. For instance, I've seen people be discrinated and made fun of, even as far as not being alowed to play, in sports, and more specifially, hockey. That was only because they wre smaller. So, the two main reason I think that people discrinatefor are because they themselves are insecure and don't want to be so, and that the other person is just different. This is a huge problem, and needs to change. But then the thing is that1
